Sunday Morning Futures Kevin Mccarthy 09 09 2018 MARIA BARTIROMO, HOST: Good Sunday morning, everyone. Thanks for joining us.
Democrats try to derail the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, but at what cost? Republicans forge ahead with tax form — reform 2.0 before the midterms. And social media executives face some tough questioning from lawmakers.
Good morning. I’m Maria Bartiromo. This is “Sunday Morning Futures.”
Judge Brett Kavanaugh appears on track to be our nation’s next Supreme Court justice. But his fiery confirmation hearings this past week left a lot of Americans asking about civility and bipartisanship on Capitol Hill.
Senator Lindsey Graham shares his thoughts coming up this morning.
House GOP leaders are forging ahead with the second stage of tax reform, tax cuts 2.0, as President Trump dangles the threat of a government shutdown over border wall funding.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy weighs in on all of that.
Plus, former President Obama’s return to the campaign trail.
Meanwhile, House conservatives renew calls for President Trump to declassify documents that they say prove bias in the Russia probe.
We will hear from House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte this morning.
Then: Top executives from Facebook and Twitter turned up on Capitol Hill to answer questions about how they operate. Google a no-show. Could these social media companies face sweeping government regulation in the future?
We talk to the House chairman who led some of that questioning, as we look ahead right now on “Sunday Morning Futures.”
The nation is awaiting a decision on whether Judge Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed to the Supreme Court. Senators on the Judiciary Committee are expected to vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the high court on September 20, that followed by a vote by the full Senate the following week.

The Justice Department has shown the House Intelligence Committee the document that Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., says prompted the FBI’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.
According to a Justice Department official, Nunes, ranking member Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and all members of the committee were provided access to the requested document on Wednesday.
Nunes sent a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray last week threatening to take legal action if the DOJ and FBI did not turn over the document, noting that the House Intelligence Committee issued subpoenas in August that “remain in force.” The deadline Nunes set was today, April 11.
In a statement Wednesday, Nunes thanked Rosenstein, but warned his committee’s subpoenas from last year “remain in effect.”

As the world turns the Deep State Implodes. The following day, Aug. 30, 2016, Strzok texted Page: “Here we go,” sending a link to the Times report titled, “Harry Reid Cites Evidence of Russian Tampering in U.S. Vote and seeks FBI inquiry.”
Strzok replied: “D [Comey] said at am brief that Reid called him and told him he would be sending a letter.”
Congressional investigators suggested that the Reid letter possibly provided “cover” for the fact that the FBI and Justice Department had already begun investigating the Trump campaign in mid-July on what they called “questionable ethical and legal grounds.”
“The ‘here we go’ text between Strzok and Page indicates the FBI/ DOJ knew the letter from Reid was coming,” a congressional source told Fox News. “This created the inference they knew it would create public calls for an investigation into Russian interference — covering them.”
Newly uncovered text messages between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page suggest a possible coordination between high-ranking officials at the Obama White House, CIA, FBI, Justice Department and former Senate Democratic leadership in the early stages of the investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to GOP congressional investigators on Wednesday.
The investigators say the information provided to Fox News “strongly” suggests coordination between former President Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, then-Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, and CIA Director John Brennan — which they say would “contradict” the Obama administration’s public stance about its hand in the process.
Page texted Strzok on Aug. 2, 2016, saying: “Make sure you can lawfully protect what you sign. Just thinking about congress, foia, etc. You probably know better than me.”
A text message from Strzok to Page on Aug. 3 described former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe as being concerned with “information control” related to the initial investigation into the Trump campaign. According to a report from the New York Times, Brennan was sent to Capitol Hill around the same time to brief members of Congress on the possibility of election interference.
The Department of Justice’s internal watchdog said Wednesday it will probe the FBI’s and DOJ’s application for a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant to monitor Carter Page, a former member of President Donald Trump’s campaign.
The department’s inspector general’s office announced Wednesday that it made the decision to review the application process “in response to requests from the Attorney General and Members of Congress.”
The investigation comes after Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee released a controversial memo in February alleging that the DOJ and FBI abused their surveillance authority when they sought the Page warrant.
The move is a significant victory for Trump and his loyalists, many of whom have said the Russia investigation, which is examining whether members of the Trump campaign colluded with Moscow during the 2016 US election, is a biased and politically motivated “witch hunt.”

Of course, no one is in deeper denial than Hillary Clinton herself. After she had conceded to Trump on the night of the election, Obama called her. Taking the phone, she said, “Mr. President, I’m sorry.”
If there is one thing Hillary Clinton does not do well, it is contrition. In an interview last September, she clung to the fiction that the election was stolen. Her belief that Trump conspired with Putin was absolute. “There certainly was communication, and there certainly was an understanding of some sort,” Clinton said. She had “no doubt” that Putin sought a Trump victory, that there was “a tangle of financial relationships” between Trump and Russia, and that Trump’s associates “worked really hard to hide their connections with Russians.” Were those, in her mind, clear signs of collusion? “I’m convinced of it,” she said.
She will remain convinced until the day she dies. The alternative, a rigorous examination of conscience, is too painful to contemplate. How much longer will Hillary Clinton’s damaged psyche hold America hostage?
These Alleged FISA Abuses need answers! Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz announced Wednesday he will review potential Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) abuses by both the Justice Department and the FBI, following requests from Congress and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
The Office of the Inspector General released a statement Wednesday outlining the start of the review.
“The OIG will initiate a review that will examine the Justice Department’s and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s compliance with legal requirements, and with applicable DOJ and FBI policies and procedures, in applications filed with the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) relating to a certain U.S. person,” the statement obtained by Fox News read. “As part of this examination, the OIG also will review information that was known to the DOJ and the FBI at the time the applications were filed from or about an alleged FBI confidential source.”
The OIG statement added that Horowitz also would “review the DOJ’s and FBI’s relationship and communications with the alleged source as they relate to the FISC applications.”
The statement continued, “If circumstances warrant, the OIG will consider including other issues that may arise during the course of the review.”
Last month, Sessions directed Horowitz to probe the allegations of government surveillance abuse, in light of memos released on Capitol Hill by the House Intelligence Committee about FBI and DOJ efforts to obtain FISA warrants to surveil Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
“We believe the Department of Justice must adhere to the high standards in the FISA court,” Sessions said in February at a news conference. “Yes it will be investigated. And I think that’s just the appropriate thing the inspector general will take that as one of the matters he’ll deal with.”
This is how Obama did it. There are two separate clouds of information. One is the NSA cloud were a lot of the meta data and text is stored. The second cloud belongs to the CIA. Accordingly to unnamed sources this NSA cloud can be accessed by upper level people in the National Security and intelligence apparatus. They can move information between these two clouds. The data is not necessarily the same information being stored on both.
According to one source the NSA cloud can be audited. The process is a little simpler and more elegant to audit the NSA. So there’s an audit trail. One former senior intelligence official said the NSA can audited and find out if analysts are violating rules. Now, the NSA does not audit the CIA’s cloud. That is very important. The CIA cloud is audited by the CIA’s I.T. people and Amazon web service employees who were given security clearances. Says the former official. This makes perfect sense. The Obama team doesn’t want to leave a trail. SO THEY COPIED DATA TO THE CIA CLOUD TO AVOID AN AUDIT! They were spying on the Trump team. They were spying on the Trump team through foreign intelligence that was giving them information.
As time goes on it becomes clear. I believe the Obama team was using Carter Page as a convenient scapegoat. They already knew he had worked with the FBI in a case were Carter page assisted in locking up a Russian spy. Because of the two hop rule. Meaning they could spy on Carter Page, who he is talking to and who that person is talking too. Folks this effectively means that by spying on Carter page through a F.I.S.A. process. They can spy on the entire Trump team. FOLLOW ME ON FACEBOOK! Read About Growing Garlic Easily!
